Message of Support

For those of you who know me well, you’ll also know about my ongoing struggles with mental health. It’s something I’ve carried with me for years, and while some days are easier than others, it’s always there, quietly shaping how I move through life. This year, I’ve taken on the One Foot Forward challenge, walking in support of better research and greater access to mental health services. It’s more than just putting one foot in front of the other—it’s about raising awareness, fostering compassion, and doing what I can to help others who feel like they’re walking this path alone. We all deserve to be heard and supported. I still have my good days and my bad ones. There are times when I don’t get to see my friends as often as I’d like, and being a stay-at-home dad can sometimes leave me feeling a bit isolated, even trapped. But I’ve learned to accept that life is constantly changing for all of us, my role in others lives have changed, and theirs in mine. With that change comes new opportunities for growth and understanding. One of the most significant changes for me this year has been reconnecting with a childhood friend. It’s been a real turning point in my mental health journey, giving me a sense of peace and closure I didn’t know I needed. I’m incredibly grateful for that friendship, and for all the friends who’ve stood by me, even when I haven’t been at my best. My son Leo and my wife Liz have truly been my anchors. They’ve kept me grounded, kept me going, and honestly, they’ve saved me in more ways than I can express. Their love and support have been everything. I’m also deeply thankful for the generosity of those who’ve donated to this cause. We’ve raised $640 so far, and I’m so grateful for every bit of it. Every donation means more research, more support, and more hope for people like me who continue to navigate the ups and downs of mental health. To my friends, family and supporters, thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.

Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

In fact, every day in Australia, 9 people will die by suicide.

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This October, I’ll be taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute, so that they can put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.
