Support My Walk for Mental Health Research
Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?
In fact, every day in Australia, 9 people will die by suicide.
Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.
This October, I’ll be taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.
I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute, so that they can put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.
It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.
Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.
My Updates
The best & worst of mental health month
Today I've remembered to update my km's onto my app. I've been honest using my pedometer phone app but also I don't carry my phone on me all the time so realistically it's way more! Going to buy myself a smart watch before next year! What I have been doing though is practising self care & reaching out to others. This month has been extremely trying for myself & two teenager daughters, we all suffer with our own mental health issues. The risk of homelessness, currently packing & moving rentals in the country's housing crisis has been both heartbreaking & strengthening at the same time. It has been a journey I feel I needed to go through to take better care of myself, ask others for help, do the things I enjoy 🎤🎶💃🦋🐝🌺🌻🪴 and surround myself with the people who love & support me. As a mother, daughter, sister, educator and someone who feels my self worth from helping & caring for others, I am truly blessed & grateful for my whanau, friends & colleagues. Blessings & healing love to everyone. 🙏🫶🫵Day One
