Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

In fact, every day in Australia, 9 people will die by suicide.

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This month, I’ll be taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute, so that they can put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

First day of October Walkathon

Hello members of the blog,

Today, I’m not really sure how I should feel. On the one hand, it’s only 1:30pm and I’ve already cycled 43km and walked 10.1km but I am not satisfied.

The sun smiles warmly down upon the harbour city, and I feel as if I could be making more of its warm rays! My lunchtime walk was enjoyable. I indulged in a savoury snack from “Humble Bakery” on the way back to the office (I’ll leave it up to your imagination to guess what I ate).

But alas, back to my feelings. My 2016 S-Works Venge VIAS is sad (thats my bike). I fear that my Quarq power metre is on its last legs, I have already tried replacing the battery and it did not work; it appears that I need a dongle to update it, however I was not provided with the dongle when I purchased the bike and I fear that my securities under the ACL have lapsed (for I purchased it privately 10 months and 10 days ago). More worryingly, however, is that my bottom bracket has begun to make a strange creaking noise whenever it is under load (greater than 350-400w I imagine). This could be down to a few reasons, chief among which is that it needs to be greased, so I will seek to rectify the issue or have a trained professional do it for me, lest I cause further damage to the bike.

All in all, so far today it has been a decent day.

I look forward to continuing to raise my step count later this evening when I walk home from work.

Thanks,
