Support my walk for mental health research

My family and I are looking for donations to support mental health and will be putting in the work and walking 100km each in the month of October! Our dad, Garry sadly took his own life on the 22nd of July. He was a case of mental health, but more detrimentally he was a victim of our broken health system. Dad suffered from chronic stomach pain that was quite literally debilitating to his everyday life. He advocated for himself, constantly in and out of hospital despite knowing that he was slowly falling through the cracks of our very broken health system. Specialists and doctors were very disorganised in their approach towards determining the cause for his pain and in the end he was dismissed and referred to pain management. Essentially they had given up on finding the cause and in that, he lost hope of a better quality of life. He did all the right things, calling lifeline on multiple occasions when having suicidal thoughts, following their instructions and calling an ambulance. Unfortunately in the current health system structure if the danger isn’t immediate there’s no effective protocols in place. Not immediate doesn’t mean it’s not imminent. We need change, and for that reason we’re looking to raise money for this charity.
